Economic Development

Welcome!

The City of Sanford’s Economic Development Team welcomes you to the wonderful City of Sanford! Whether you are looking for new space or a site to expand your business, we are here for you! We recognize that you have a choice to make, a very important choice when it comes to locating your business and we will do our best to assist you with navigating processes. Many times, our Economic Development Team is aware of available space that you may not find online, so please contact us to share your location needs. We will do our best to share properties that fit your needs.

Our strategy involves attracting new businesses, growing existing businesses, and retaining businesses in the City of Sanford. The ED Team works very closely with other City Departments to help business owners navigate through the various steps to open a new business. Business recruitment can be very competitive. Therefore, we partner at times with organizations such as the Orlando Economic Partnership, Seminole County Economic Development, Seminole State College-Center for Business Development, CareerSource Central Florida, the National Entrepreneur Center, and a variety of other economic development organizations.

Life In Sanford

Faces Of Sanford

Sanford, one of Central Florida’s oldest incorporated cities is well-known for its brick lined streets, towering oaks, elegant store fronts and large, nineteenth-century Victorian homes. Picturesque First Street, the center of Downtown Sanford, is a vibrant, entertaining, and enticing destination. Sanford is home to Seminole State College of Florida and the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Its downtown attracts tourists with shops, restaurants, a marina, and the beautiful Sanford RiverWalk.

Explore Sanford

The City’s RiverWalk is a bike/walk/run trail that spans a distance of several miles in Sanford’s downtown area along the waterfront of Lake Monroe. The city completed multimillion-dollar streetscapes of 1st Street and Sanford Avenue in its historic downtown, using brick pavers, creating wider sidewalks, and adding trees, flowers, and benches. Sanford is connected to the central Florida commuter railway SunRail, with the station 2 miles from the downtown.

To support green initiatives, Sanford has added five electric car charging stations.

Sanford is Film Friendly

Our Downtown Sanford community loves the film industry and we wanted to prove it. So, a group of us got together to form the Film Sanford Committee working with the City of Sanford’s Communication’s Office. Alongside our partnership with Film Orlando Commission, we intend to do great things in our community. We want to make sure the most updated location information is available as well as the best crew list to help make your productions a success. We also want to have a number of members that will be happy to welcome you and assist as only a local can. Sanford has many charming and versatile locations and we encourage you to check out what we have to offer.
